Sydney. You’ve outdone yourself. This Halloween weekend calls for a day of the dead festival, freak shows, pop-up bars, markets and hey… even a bit of comedy for anyone whose scare-threshold is minimal (we’re not judging).

But the scariest thing of all would be missing out on these events… so get to it Sydney!

Thursday

URBAN YOGA

Before you start your deathly celebrations, you’ll probably be in need of some blissful zen-time. And we’ve got your back. Join the masters at Urban Yoga in Surry Hills where one of their instructors will lead a 90 minute Yin class (urban stretch style). It’s suitable for all levels and accompanied by a group of string musicians.

DAY OF THE DEAD FESTIVAL

Kicking things off this Halloween weekend, our favourite Tex-Mex bar El Camino Cantina is hosting an epic Day of the Dead festival. With live music on Thursday night, an all you can eat taco menu on Friday to celebrate our personal favourite of the seven deadly sins, gluttony. The weekend calls for more live music and Dragon’s Blood punch and some serious salsa dancing and Tex-Mex brunch on Sunday, you know, to carry on from the night before.

When: 27th-30th of October
Where: El Camino Cantina, The Rocks
Cost: Free entry

FREAK SHOW AT THE ARGYLE

The Argyle is hosting one hell of a show this weekend. That means two whole nights of majorly sinful celebrations on Friday and Saturday. Its two floors, five bars and historic cobblestone courtyard will be transformed into a multi-sensory, freak show spectacular including a line-up of roving performers, bearded ladies, contortionists, tarot card readers, magicians and a super line-up of Djs including Press Play, Jesabel, Tass, Moto, Glover and Tess, and Vockler.

Where: The Argyle, The Rocks

FLOW AFTER DARK

If you love the sound of a silent disco yoga session then Flow After Dark is for you. Fusing yoga and live beats to bring you a fitness session (bigger than ever) that we know you’ll love. Having sold out across Melbourne and Sydney before, this event is a Halloween must-do. Australia’s number one yoga instructor, Kate Kendall will lead the 90 minute Vinyasa class and the Ministry of Sound has collaborated with resident DJ James Mack to bring you a yoga soundtrack like no other. Plus, there’s a yogi braid station (seriously) and Alix McDermott will be painting up some Halloween inspired make-up!

When: Thursday the 27th of October, 7pm
Where: 1 Driver Avenue, Moore Park
Cost: $59

Friday

This elegant little pop-up bar coincides with the Tastuo Miyajima exhibition at the MCA and is open all summer… starting this Friday!
